Using Your Own Containers

As a GSI customer, you still have the option of using your own container(s) for waste disposal. In most cases, you subscribe to a preset Subscription service level.

These standard options include:

• One Can  Service
• Two Can Service
• Three Can Service
• Four Can Service or higher (limited areas)

While the names may be deceptive, you are allowed to use store-bought bags in place of an actual trash can. Customer container size, whether can or bag, should not exceed 33-gallons each. Subscribers to these services are allowed to set out the specified number of containers each week for one monthly fee. If you exceed your subscription level or set our containers that are larger than 33-gallon size limit, you may incur additional charges.

If you find that you only have smaller bags of trash (like white kitchen bags) or less then 33-gallons per week, you should investigate our pre-paid BAG or TAG service programs to minimize your monthly expenses.

We utilize preset container limits to ensure accuracy of accounting for the amount of trash generated by each individual household. For more information, follow the link to our our webpage describing the Pay-As-You-Throw collection program requirements applied in the Larimer County service area.

These services allow for customers to select the most economical service for the needs of their household without the requirement of using one of our containers.

For convenience we still recommend the use of our Cart Service in all areas that they are available.

Extra Waste

You may also elect to use one of your own containers to hold any waste in excess of your subscription can or cart service level. These will be charged at a standardized rate for all customers base on the 33-gallon size limit.
